Incident in Sergio Osmena
An alleged stabbing incident transpired at Purok
Mars, Barangay Venus, , Zamboanga Del
Norte at about 7:00 PM of May 8, 2018.
Initial investigation conducted by the
responding PNP personnel disclosed that the victim was identified as Loreto
Gatoc, 35 years old, male, single, Filipino, farmer and a resident of
above-mentioned place, while the suspect was identified as certain Jermy
Butalid y Pactol, 25 years old, male, single, Filipino and also resident of
same place.
Investigation further disclosed that at about
6:00 o’clock more or less in the evening of May 8, 2018 the victim was at Purok
Mars watching a dance practice while the suspect was from barangay Bagong
Baguio attending the fiesta celebration of said barangay and believed to be
under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
The suspect armed with a hunting knife arrived
at Purok Mars and approached the victim then without any apparent reason
suddenly stab the victim once hitting on the back portion of the body.
Said victim was then brought to Sergio Osmeña
District Hospital for immediate medical attention but was pronounced Dead on
Arrival (DOA) by the attending physician.
Suspect voluntary surrendered to Alvin Caspe y
Pasa, 29 years old, a barangay Tanod and a resident of Purok Mars, barangay
Venus, Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte.
The suspect was turned-over to the responding
PNP personnel and was brought to Sergio Osmeña District Hospital for
medical/physical examination and now temporarily detained at said MPS for
filing appropriate charges against him in court.
