June 19, 2018 - NEWS RELEASE on Reported Incident

Fire Incident in Sindangan
SINDANGAN, Zamboanga del Norte (June 19, 2018) – A Fire incident transpired at Brgy Goleo, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte at about 12:45 AM of June 18, 2018, wherein a house made of light materials owned by Freddie Garcia was razed down by fire.

Initial investigation conducted by Sindangan Bureau of Fire Protection personnel disclosed that, accordingly, on or about 12:40 AM of June 18, 2018, Freddie Garcia arrived from Sindangan Integrated Bus Terminal and saw his house was on fire that prompted him to call the Bureau of Fire Protection of Sindangan for assistance.

Estimated damaged by fire amounted to One Hundred Fifty Pesos (Php 150,000.00), Philippine currency, more or less, and no casualty/injured person noted on said occurrence. (By J. CADION)           


Vehicular Accident
TAMPILISAN, Zamboanga Del Norte (June 18, 2018) - Vehicular traffic accident involving motorcycle and military jeep type, the accident transpired along the National Highway at Brgy. Sto. Niño, Tampilisan, Zamboanga Del Norte at about 6:10 PM of June 18, 2018.

Tampilisan MPS identified the victim as Joralyn Balansat Rublico, who was already rushed to Ipil District Hospital, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay for medical treatment.

The responding team personally saw a motorcycle lying at the left shoulder of the national highway of Brgy. Sto. Niño, Tampilisan, fronting Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay direction and it was in front of PNP COMPAC.

Vehicle 1 was described as single motorcycle XRM, color black/white combination, with plate number 6972 YD driven by Joralyn Balansat Rublico, single, resident of Brgy. Lanawan, Salug. She was not wearing a protective helmet.

Vehicle 2 described as military jeep, color yellow, with plate number SJN 348, a government vehicle and driven by Terencio Micabne Sumaylo, born on September 27, 1959, 58 years of age, married, resident of Brgy. Fatima, Liloy, Zamboanga Del Norte.

Investigation conducted disclosed that vehicle 1 (XRM125) was travelling from Brgy. Poblacion, Tampilisan going to Liloy, direction.

Upon arrival at the place of incident vehicle 1 (XRM125) was about to cross the PNP Checkpoint Barricades but was bump/hit by vehicle 2 that causes the single motorcycle to flip over and drop in the road. Joralyn Balansat Rublico suffered injuries on her body and was rushed to Ipil District Hospital, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay for medical treatment.

According to the witnesses that vehicle 2 was travelling in a high-speed level because it was carrying a pregnant patient from Liloy, Zamboanga Del Norte.

Vehicle 2 left the area of incident to go to the police station purposely to report the incident. The driver of vehicle 1 (XRM125) did not present any pertinent documents during the accident.

The driver of vehicle 2 and his passengers luckily did not suffer any injuries. Incident happened on or about 6:05PM of same date.

Both vehicles were now put under the custody of this office for proper disposition of the case.

Suicide Incident
KATIPUNAN, Zamboanga Del Norte (June 19, 2019) - An alleged suicide incident transpired at Purok 4, Brgy. Uno, Katipunan, Zamboanga Del Norte at about 8:40 PM of of June 18, 2018.

Initial Investigation conducted disclosed that the victim identified as Ellen Marie Eslit Mangila, 15 years old, of Purok 4, Brgy. Uno, Katipunan, Zamboanga Del Norte, a Grade 10 student of Katipunan National High School and a resident of above mentioned place had committed suicide by shooting herself with the use of a revolver caliber 22 to her left chest.

The victim sustained gunshot wound at her left chest with the slug still inside her body.

Recovered from the place of incident were the following items, to wit: one revolver caliber 22, one empty cartridge of cal. 22, one live ammo of cal. 22 (not loaded into the revolver) one holster, one bag use as gun case, all owned by the victim’s father, and two cell phones of the victim.

In depth, investigation conducted disclosed that two days prior the incident, the victim had a lover’s quarrel with her boyfriend, Jay Bitoon Pacquiao, 21 years old and a resident of Brgy. Uno, Katipunan, and both were not talking with each other since then.

That according to the testimony of her brother, Meylan Eslit Mangila, 17 years old, grade 12 student of Katipunan National High School, her sister sought the assistance his girlfriend through personal messages on Facebook Messenger in order to act as bridge for her and her boyfriend for them to be able to talk with each other.

That according to him, her sister intentionally missed her afternoon classes and went home only at around 6:30 in the evening of same date. According to her father, Manolito Romero Mangila, 65 years old, farmer, Agriculture Graduate, he scolded the victim for not attending her classes that afternoon, reprimanding her to focus on her studies rather than her love life.

That an hour prior the incident, the victim attended the thanksgiving party of the newly elected and re-elected barangay officials of Barangay Uno, Katipunan, during the previous election at around 7:00 PM of same date and was seen by witnesses drinking San Miguel “Light” Beer thereat.

After which, the victim went home, and an hour later a gun burst was heard by her brother Meynard Eslit Mangila, 21 years old, single, college graduate and her mother, Elizabeth E. Mangila, 47 years old, January 24, 1971, housewife, elementary graduate who immediately went inside her room and discovered the bloody victim on the bed.

The victim was immediately brought by her father to the Municipal Health Office and was subsequently brought to Zanorte Medical Center for medical treatment on board the Municipal Ambulance of the Municipality of Katipunan.
