Landmine
Explosion in Kalawit
On May 18, 2018 at about 10:00 AM, Elements of Charlie
Company of 42nd Infantry Battalion, Phil Army with Six (6) Enlisted Personnel
onboard KM450.
While approaching Palalian Bridge, Kalawit,
Zamboanga Del Norte, they have seen Three (3) armed men laying landmine at the
said bridge which prompted the troops to disembarked.
However, the armed men who immediately detonate
the landmine and subsequently enemy fires noticed their presence was heard from
the high ground beside the bridge.
The troops fired back and subsequently the
enemies withdraw towards Brgy New Salvacion, Labason, Zamboanga Del Norte and
Brgy Palalian, Kalawit, Zamboanga Del Norte.
Meanwhile, at about 10:30 AM of May 18, 2018, Elements
of 42nd Infantry Battalion proceeded to the encounter site to scour the area
for clearing.
They had recovered more or less 100 meters wire
the following: three (3) pieces 9 volts battery and shrapnel used for bombing.
Further action taken of the troops was to
pursuit the enemy.
Afterwards at about 3:00 PM of same date, the
five (5) Enlisted Personnel (who encounter the Land mine explosion) on board
KM450 returned to their based Charlie Company at Brgy Poblacion, Kalawit, Zamboanga
Del Norte.
Two (2) of its personnel were wounded while one
R4 riffle and KM450 tire was slightly damage.
Hot pursuit operation still being conducted by
the said operating troops against the fleeing enemy.
Shooting
Incident in Sindangan
On May 17, 2018 at about 11:00 PM, a shooting
incident occurred at Barangay Nipaan, Sindangan, Zamboanga Del Norte, wherein
victim identified as Julito Gumanad Paculba, 36 years old, male, single, a
resident of said place.
He was shot to death by a gun man identified as Marlon
Pacas Caballero, 35 years old, male, single a resident of the same barangay
together with two (2) other unidentified persons who are conspiring each other
to kill her live-in partner.
Acting on the said report, PNP personnel of
Sindangan MPS responded the incident.
Initial investigation disclosed that while the
victim was in their hut a distance away from their house, thereat at around
9:00PM of same date, his live-in partner (Liza Sumangkad) was trying to go
after him, but suddenly upon reaching a few meters away from their hut she
heard a gunshot that prompted her to hide into a coconut tree.
Subsequently, there was another shot for a
second time. Right after the shot, the suspect Marlon Caballero turn on his
flashlight attached on his head and made a shot for a third time that hit the
victim and fell down into the ground.
Thereat, Liza Sumangkad immediately ran away and
hides herself in to a grassy area for she was chased by the suspects but
luckily she was not catch by them.
When the suspects left the area, she went to the
house of the parents of her live-in partner and both of them went to the police
station to report the incident.
Further, the suspect Marlon Caballero was
successfully arrested by the responding team and the other (2) unidentified
person remained at large.
The motive of the incident is due to personal
grudge. Personnel of Sindangan MPS are still conducting manhunt operation to
locate and identify the other unidentified suspects in coordination with the
neighboring police station and friendly forces. Investigator is PO2 Roland

2 Arrested in
Illegal Cockfighting in Dapitan City
On May 18, 2018 at about 3:30 PM, an alleged
illegal cockfighting activity transpired at Brgy. Hilltop, Dapitan City.
The Dapitan City Police immediately launched a
police operation which resulted to the arrest of the suspect identified as Tito
Bayron Gahuman, 52 years old and Isabelito Bagatua Largo, 49 years old, male,
married, Filipino and residents of Brgy. Hilltop, Dapitan City.
They were arrested after they were caught in the
act betting on the said illegal cockfighting game.
Other bettors able to run and scampered towards
unknown directions.
Subject persons were arrested and confiscated
from their possession were two (2) red game fowls, one (1) dead game fowl, one
(1) piece gaff and four hundred (Php400.00) pesos cash as bet money.
Arrested suspects were brought to Dapitan City
Police Station for further investigation and pending filing of appropriate
charges in court.
